The Space

As you enter the hallway at West End, you are immediately given a glimpse of the elegant interiors that await. The sitting room is bright and refined, filled with natural light from the bay window. Stylish sofas are arranged around a period fireplace with an open fire, creating a warm and inviting space to relax and reflect on the day’s adventures.

The kitchen and dining area is a true delight for keen cooks, featuring a range-style oven and everything needed to prepare anything from relaxed breakfasts to hearty evening meals. Spread out the morning papers at the dining table, enjoy a freshly brewed coffee, and open the French doors to the rear courtyard, allowing natural light to flood the space.

The ground floor also benefits from a useful utility area with a washing machine, as well as a separate downstairs WC.

On the first floor, you will find two of the five beautifully styled bedrooms—one with a king-size bed and the other with twin singles. Both rooms are thoughtfully furnished with soft bedding, ample storage, and a calm, restful atmosphere. This level is also served by a well-appointed bathroom with a bath, WC, and wash basin.

A further staircase leads to the second floor, where three additional inviting double bedrooms are located. Each has been carefully designed to ensure comfort and tranquillity, making them ideal for a restful night’s sleep. This floor also includes a second bathroom, complete with a spacious walk-in shower, basin, and WC.

French doors from the dining area open out into a private courtyard—an ideal spot for enjoying a morning coffee or a relaxed evening drink.

On-street parking is available within Kirkbymoorside, and dogs are warmly welcomed to join you during your stay.

The Local Area

Rich in history, Kirkbymoorside is mentioned in the Domesday Book and has held a Royal Charter for its market since 1254. The town retains a wealth of character, with several charming 13th-century buildings still standing in the centre. It offers a selection of independent shops where you are greeted with a friendly, personal touch, alongside traditional pubs and welcoming cafés.

The town also has a strong musical heritage, home to the award-winning Kirkbymoorside Town Brass Band, which has been part of the community for over 200 years. Each August, the town comes alive for the Kirkbymoorside Gateway to the Moors Music Festival, celebrating its vibrant cultural traditions.

The property is ideally placed for exploring some of North Yorkshire’s top attractions, including Eden Camp, Dalby Forest, and Flamingo Land. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is just a 10-minute drive away, offering access to the Cleveland Way walking trail, Helmsley Castle, the Walled Garden, and a variety of independent shops and cafés.

Lying approximately 25 miles north of the historic city of York, the location is perfect for day trips to enjoy its rich culture, from the iconic Minster and world-class museums to the ancient city walls and cobbled streets lined with independent boutiques and restaurants.

Sutton Bank is also within easy reach, offering fantastic opportunities for walking, mountain biking, and watching gliders take off above the famous White Horse. Nearby villages such as Hovingham host popular monthly food markets, while towns including Pickering, Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, and Thirsk offer regular local markets—Thirsk being well known for its connections to James Herriot.

The charming market town of Malton, often referred to as the “food capital of the North,” is just a 20-minute drive away and hosts a popular monthly food market.

The surrounding area is also home to excellent dining options, including the renowned villages of Oldstead and Harome, both just a short drive away. Closer to home, Pickering offers a wide range of restaurants, cafés, and traditional eateries to enjoy.
