The Local Area
Bridlington’s North Beach is one of the highlights of the East Yorkshire coast, with beautiful golden sands, a traditional seaside promenade and plenty to see and do for visitors of all ages. Stretching from the historic harbour towards the dramatic cliffs at Sewerby, it offers the perfect setting for a classic British seaside getaway.
North Beach is one of Bridlington’s two award-winning beaches, the other being South Beach. Its clean sands, excellent facilities and beautiful surroundings have earned it prestigious accolades, including the Seaside Award and recognition from Keep Britain Tidy.
The beautifully restored Edwardian promenade is ideal for a leisurely stroll, with cafés, ice cream parlours and independent gift shops lining the route. There are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the sea views, while much of the promenade is wheelchair accessible, with ramps and beach wheelchairs available to hire.
There’s plenty to explore beyond the beach too. A short journey from The Blue House will take you to Sewerby Hall and Gardens, an impressive Georgian estate set within beautifully landscaped gardens. Here you can discover fascinating history, visit the zoo and enjoy the extensive grounds.
At the southern end of North Beach, families will find a traditional seaside funfair packed with classic rides, including bumper cars, carousels and mini roller coasters. Add in stalls selling sweets, toys and traditional seaside treats, and you have all the ingredients for a nostalgic day by the coast.
Whatever the weather, Bridlington’s amusement arcades provide plenty of entertainment along the North Promenade. From traditional penny pushers and claw machines to air hockey and modern virtual reality experiences, there’s something to keep visitors of all ages entertained.
A visit to Bridlington wouldn’t be complete without exploring its historic harbour. From here, you can enjoy boat trips along the coast or sample some of the area’s fresh seafood at one of the many harbour-side restaurants and kiosks.
For a fun and relaxing way to explore the coastline, hop aboard the Bridlington Land Train. Running along the North Promenade and connecting the beach with Sewerby Hall and Gardens, it’s a particularly enjoyable option for families with younger children or anyone who would prefer not to walk the full distance. Along the way, you can enjoy wonderful coastal views without having to worry about the journey.
The land train is wheelchair accessible for manual wheelchairs and is also pet friendly, making it a convenient and enjoyable way to explore more of Bridlington with your four-legged companion.
