Accommodation Overview
Escape to the tranquillity of Glanyravon Cottage, a charming self-catering retreat set among the rolling hills of Powys. Perfect for couples, walkers and nature lovers, this cosy hideaway provides an ideal base for exploring the breathtaking landscapes of the Elan Valley, Rhayader and the Cambrian Mountains.
Whether you’re stargazing beneath unspoilt dark skies, discovering scenic walking trails, or simply taking time to unwind, Glanyravon Cottage offers a true home-from-home in a beautiful rural setting.
Surrounded by Nature
Set within our peaceful farm, the Afon Dulas gently winds its way through the land, running alongside the historic Mid Wales Railway line. Surrounded by rolling Welsh hills, the cottage offers direct access to miles of bridleways and walking trails right from the doorstep—perfect for walkers, cyclists and nature enthusiasts.
Wildlife and Stargazing
The surrounding landscape is rich in wildlife. Keep an eye out for red kites soaring overhead, curlews in the fields, and—if you’re lucky—hares or stoats. And of course, you’ll be sharing the scenery with plenty of sheep.
While not officially designated as a Dark Sky area, the night skies here are wonderfully clear, making it a fantastic spot for stargazing on crisp evenings.
Outdoor Spaces
Unwind in either the front or rear garden, where you’ll find a handcrafted picnic bench and a charming bistro set—ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine while taking in the peaceful countryside.
Inside the Cottage
Step through a secure garden entrance into a welcoming porch, perfect for storing muddy boots and outdoor gear.
The open-plan living and dining area is full of character, featuring exposed stone walls and timber beams. A comfortable sofa and a neatly positioned dining table for two create a cosy, intimate space, complemented by a Smart TV with Freesat and Starlink internet for easy streaming.
Kitchen and Bathroom
The newly fitted kitchen and contemporary shower room bring a touch of modern comfort while preserving the cottage’s rustic charm. Velux skylights and tilt-and-turn windows fill the space with natural light, offering lovely views of the surrounding hills by day and star-filled skies by night.
Mezzanine Bedroom
Upstairs, the mezzanine bedroom features a king-size oak-framed bed, a generous dressing area, and beautiful original oak beams stretching across the ceiling. Oil central heating ensures the cottage remains warm and welcoming throughout the year.
